Named by a German immigrant who thought it resembled the Black Forest in Germany, this community offers spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, the surrounding forests and their wildlife. It is the highest area east of the Rocky Mountains, and many local sites are visible in the distance including Pikes Peak, the U.S. Air Force Academy and north Colorado Springs.
